Our 2021 Summer Paddlesports Day Camp is open for registration!

  • OPEN TO YOUTH 10 YRS TO 16 YRS OF AGE

  • MUST BE ABLE TO SWIM

  • CAMP FEE INCLUDES: DAILY EQUIPMENT, ACTIVITIES, CAMP SHIRT, SNACKS

 Camp Dates:

Session 1- June 28 to July 2 FULL!

Session 2- July 12 to July 16 (Full! Ask about a wait list.)

Session 3- (AUGUST- TBD)

8:30 AM TO 12:30 PM

$295/five-day session

Kayaking

KAYAK PADDLING SKILLS

While fun is the goal, participants will also learn to paddle a kayak solo with proper stroke technique, turning and bracing strokes, land and launch, and self-rescue & re-entry in shallow water.

STAND UP PADDLE SKILLS

Participants will learn beginner to advanced SUP board control and paddling strokes. Safety is the focus, and fun is guaranteed!  Kids can advance as far or as little as they want.

MARINE SCIENCE

During each session, we break up the day learning about our resident mammals, fish, birds, and invertebrates. We will also learn about important dune plants!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I register a child younger than 10 years old?


In our experience, youth under 10 often need much more individual assistance and can lack muscular strength and coordination. We will be doing 2 hours of paddle training per day, and that can be too much for younger kids. Children not yet 10 may be able to register based on ability and development. Please call and talk with the director.




Who will be leading the Summer Program activities?


Mary Robinson, owner of Morro Bay Paddlesports, LLC will be directing and teaching camp activities. Morro Bay Paddlesports staff Camp Assistants will be present daily. Each day, there will be two adults leading and teaching. Mary is a mom, a certified stand up paddle instructor, certified Lifeguard, and has a degree in natural sciences. She also was a former teacher, science enrichment program instructor, and has developed and taught several Summer camp programs.




How many participants can register for a session?


To maintain a 5:1 ratio (students to leader) we limit the number of participants to 10.




Will my kids be okay if they have never paddled a kayak or paddleboard before?


YES!




What happens if the weather isn't good for paddling?


We always plan for this and will have plenty of activities to keep participants busy!




What if my child can't swim?


Sorry, all participants must be able to swim. Private lessons are available for non-swimmers.




If my child misses a day, will we receive a refund for that day?


No. However, we will find some way to make it up to you (such as free rentals).




Will children wear life jackets?


Absolutely, each and every time they are on a kayak or paddleboard.




Will lunch be provided?


No. We will offer snacks but participants must bring their own lunch. Lunch will be from 12:00 to 12:30 here on site when we finish activities for the day.




What if my child has special needs?


We are dedicated to providing access to this program to all. We can work together to make sure your child can participate in whatever way he/she can.




What is required to register my child?


You will need to fill out an information form for your child, sign a Release of Liability/Assumption of Risk form, complete an emergency/health form, and pre-pay the registration fee to hold your child's spot. These forms will be e-mailed to you after you send the Request to Register form here on this page.




What is the refund/cancellation policy?


We guarantee 100% that your child will have a great time. If something goes wrong, and that doesn't happen, we will refund your registration fee. We also will refund registration fees if you cancel a minimum of 7 days prior to your session start date. If cancellation is requested fewer than 7 days prior to the start date, you will be refunded 50% of your fees paid. No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the session start date.




Is there a minimum number of participants per session?


Yes. The minimum number of kids needed to run each session is 6. The maximum we can take is 10.




If a session is already full, can we get placed on a waiting list in case of cancellations?
