  • Dogs must have a float vest! If your dog doesn't own a vest, you can rent one here!

  • When you come to rent kayaks or stand up paddleboards, we expect that you are comfortable in and on the water. Kayaking is a water sport, and you may get wet!

  • You are expected to be able to swim! We reserve the right to turn away anyone who cannot swim or who we feel would be unsafe on the water in rented equipment.

Our Equipment:

  • Our stand up paddleboards are high quality, very stable boards. We use the best paddles in the industry for our rentals. We have boards that work for anyone up to 290 lbs.

  • Paddleboards are designed for one paddler only. Two adult riders are not permitted on SUP's.

  • We use "sit-on-top" type kayaks with molded cockpit equipped with full padded seat and back band.

  • Our tandem (two person) kayaks have a carrying capacity of 400 lbs. If both riders exceed 200 lbs. each, the risk of capsizing (and ending up in the water) is higher.

  • For single paddlers, the kayak's weight limit is 300 lbs.

  • For your safety, you may be turned away if you exceed the carrying capacity of our kayaks!

  • All paddlers are expected to be capable of self-rescue in the event of capsize!

  • Fishing is not allowed on our kayaks at the present time. Sorry!

To help make your visit go more smoothly:

  • Bring a watch or phone so you can track your time! We rent & sell dry bags here.

  • Leave valuables, bags, etc. behind if you can. We can hold keys and other items if necessary.

  • Apply sunscreen, change clothes, etc. prior to checking in. We get you launched as quickly as possible.

  • Find/use the restroom prior to checking in. If you need to leave after you have been checked in, you may have to wait until the next party checks in and launches.

  • Make sure your young children are up for the experience.  We will not allow adults to force  young children into a water activity that they are not comfortable with!

  • We try to be as inclusive as our facilities allow. If you or another guest will be coming with special needs, please let us know how we can help.

Knowing when to come out:

  • If unsure, please call us and we'll help you decide the best time!

  • You can check weather, winds and tides on a weather app to determine best times to come out.

  • Ultimately, it is up to you to determine the best time to come out to paddle based on your ability.

  • Mornings are usually best for stand up paddleboards if you are a beginner!

What People are Saying...

SUP Lesson

On a trip across California we came across this fantastic experience. I can honestly say that it was one of the highlights of our trip! Mary was a fantastic teacher for us complete newbies, and not only teaching us how to SUP, health and safety but also gave us a little nature tour of the bay which we found so interesting!

SUP Rental

My son and I rented paddle boards here and it was the best experience! The store recommended a time for us the following morning when the winds are usually low and the water was smooth and wonderful. We received great instruction prior to launching off of a little beach area where all of the equipment was set up for us and ready to go.
Loved the staff, the setting, and the equipment. Great rates too! Thanks for a great experience!!

Nature Tour

Went with a group of friends for the 2 hour nature tour and it was so much more than we could have ever expected! The instructor Mary is incredibly kind and helpful. She was very helpful and encouraging in helping a friend that was new to paddle boarding but was still able to provide us with a lot of cool information about the Bay and the plants and animals living in it. We had an absolute blast and it was SUCH a deal.

Kayak Rental

We found out that Morro Bay Paddlesports rented kayaks so tried them for the first time. The couple could not have been nicer or more helpful. They really care about what they do and that you are safe and outfitted properly.  The kayaks were in excellent condition and they included brand new vests which were a modern version that didn't have all the cumbersome straps. They took care to advise on the currents and tide conditions. I highly recommend this place!

Our Shop

We received a great introduction, the equipment was in excellent condition (super clean wetsuits if you rent one which is nice to have on cloudy days in July) and the team was smart, funny and incredibly knowledgeable about boarding but also the local biology.
PS... the shop associated with this team is also wonderful! It has a great selection of paddle boarding supplies but also some well-designed clothing!
